GOOD GAME BUT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER January 6, 2009 Review: I have mixed feelings on this game. On one hand the graphics are incredible and some of the tracks are gorgeous with mountains and cliffs that look picture perfect. Each car handles differently and performs just like in real life. There are several different views including one from inside the car that replicates the interior exactly. On the other hand there are not as many car choices as in some of the previous versions. There is still no damage to your car and that makes the game very unrealistic and arcade like. You can hit a wall doing 150 M.P.H. and no damage. The Gran Turismo franchise claims to be the "True Driving Simulation" but the lack of damage doesn't seem anything like a simulation.
Overall I give it four stars because it is a fun game but has some issues as stated above and it simply doesn't have the makings of a truly great game.
  really dissapointing January 5, 2009 I've been a GT fan since GT3..
I thought this game was going to be a blast!!! but it's way too far from older versions.
Great graphics, yes, great sound and car handling, but is nothing compare to its predecessors. Too few tracks, poor rally options!!!
It's very good - but not quite "there" yet! January 2, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2XR4HBFCKQFG5 Also in the video is the Logitech GT force feedback wheel. The pairing of this game with the wheel certainly adds a "star".
For anyone interested the configuration as shown is:
PS3 connected to an Epson 720P projector on a 100" pull down screen. Cable configuration is component to VGA (no HDMI). Audio is digital via Toslink to 7.1 Surround.
if you like gran turismo then buy it December 29, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
if you like the Gran Turismo games then definitely buy this. the driving physics are as always true to form. the AI is pretty good. they are actually capable of trying to block a pass. nubes probably will find this frustrating but for real racing fans this is a big plus. there are 1 thing that i don't really like, that is it is alot harder to get money in this one then in the last. So you have to repeat alot of races in order to get enough money to buy a new car. to all those people who don't like the no car damage. that is because it requires liscenses from the car manufactors
Fantastic. December 29, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hello game fans. I'm just returning to the video game universe after a llooonngg hiatus. My kids are getting old enough, and since I just got a 65 inch tv, my good friend who is into this stuff insisted that I get a PS3 to use as my blu ray player. I decided to get the driving game as I'm a car nut. So, I get the game and the steering wheel, and of course, I have to buy the RX-8 first thing since I just bought a REAL RX-8 this past summer, I know, it is almost absurd, getting off on driving the video game version of a car that I have SITTING in my garage! Anyways, the disclaimer, I haven't played too many games over the years. However, this thing is so much fun! The graphics, the engine noises (music turned off of course), the views, the cars, the tracks, the game play, all so much fun! I'll tell you, if some of the reviewers are correct that this game is ho-hum, then I guess I'd like to see what they recommend, because this prologue 5 is terrific! At this point, I'll have zero plans to purchase the "real" gran turismo 5 when it does come out, this should keep me busy for a long time. cheers.
