Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
Based on the 1999 World Championship, F1 World Grand Prix places you in the driving seat and gives you firsthand experience of every aspect of this challenging competition. Featuring real teams and drivers, each car is a faithful replica of the actual car used in 1999, both visually and in terms of its handling. In fact, if you drive well, your lap times for the different circuits should be similar to those logged during the real 1999 season. Particular close attention has been paid to the realism of the circuits; they have been replicated in their entirety rather than just the immediate area close to the track. This enhances game play by providing a practically unlimited view. But playability, of course, is what really matters. The artificial intelligence driving module has been designed to ensure that, although you are always faced with very competitive opponents, they can adapt themselves to your level by means of easily applied parameters--making this game equally suitable for beginners and seasoned simulation fans alike.

1 out of 5 stars Good Graphics! But not for sim fans!!   January 19, 2001

This game has excellent graphics on a Good end AGP. As mentioned in previous reviews, there is a bug in the name selection. The length is also fixed. You can't even enter "SCHUMACHER". You'll have to enter it as "SHUMAKER" in order to fit it in. More importantly, this game doesn't give you full control over the front wheels. It tends to keep you on track which is not a good sign for a simulation fan.

5 out of 5 stars Simply excellent   August 1, 2000

This is the game you should buy if you are a Formula 1 fan, as I am. The graphics are great, as it is the sound. The only problem I have had is in the player's menu where it has a bug changing the player. But the realism is the best part of the game. It is a must for everyone who loves F1

5 out of 5 stars Great realism !   June 4, 2000

Of course, never having driven a real F1 car on a real F1 circuit, it's difficult to TRULY say that any game is realistic, but this sure seems to be. Push too hard, and you'll understeer through the fast turns--lay back and you'll be at the back of the grid. But the handling characteristics seem to be plausible enough, and the track graphics are right on the money. All in all, a fun game to play. Best racing sim I've played, and I've tried a bunch of 'em.
