Amazon.com Product Description
The Timex Men's Expedition E-Instruments Compass Tide Temperature Watch is a high-performance accessory for the style-conscious yachtsman or water enthusiast. The watch's dark brown leather strap is accented by contrast stitching and complements the stainless steel case and generously sized cream-colored dial. The bidirectional rotating bezel features compass directions. The dial has luminous hands that tell time (numbers are designated by black indexes) and a third hand alerts the user of tidal trends and current air or water temperature, while a fourth red-tipped hand always points north. This watch features Indiglo night light and is water resistant to 330 feet. It comes with a one-year manufacturer's warranty.

5 out of 5 stars Watch review   January 6, 2009
Gave this watch to my brother as a Christmas gift - he flies model airplanes -absolutely loves the watch esp. the temperature and compass for field flying

2 out of 5 stars The E-Normous Compass Tide Temperature Watch   December 6, 2008
Why is this thing so big? I mean really ... At this size and with today's technology it should also have a GPS and 2-way radio. The thermometer is only accurate when it's off your wrist and I will never use the tide meter. I got it as a gift, and feel bad about returning it.

Maybe I will mount it on the handlebars of my motorcycle since it doesn't have a clock and the compass might be useful if I get lost.

You better have a huge wrist or this watch will look ridiculous.

Timex Men's Expedition E-Instruments Compass Tide Temperature Watch #T45601
When You're Fishing...Who checks the time?.. BUT, having run aground a few times & replacing bent props... I decided I needed something reliable, that I could readily & easily check to make sure I had enough water to to get home!
Tide Tables, Time Clocks..Leave them at home! This thing comes with you!
Once set up to your local tides, this instrument stays accurate..(Periodic checks & adjustment may be necessary to compensate for minor moon, coastal & weather 'blips')
The other excellent features work too..
Compass is accurate..(satnav confirmed)
Temperature feature.. tends to read high..but acceptable &.. if you can read it..You're not Hypothermic!
Date..Luminescent Hands & Hours..Indiglo Backlight....
Looks Great if you like 'LARGE' watches, but really comfortable to wear..& certainly inspires people to pass comment...........
OH! AND IT TELLS THE TIME!
I Love It!!!.. One of the best 'MARINE' instruments I own!!!
Buy One.. & I'll bet you'll want to buy another!!!

3 out of 5 stars Very cool, very big, not very well made   September 24, 2008

It was time for a watch. I'd been reading about GPS and compass watches, and came across this one that was very reasonably priced considering what it delivers.

So far I have to say it's been "OK".

Pros:
I like the size of the watch (yes, it's huge), and it rides comfortably on my wrist. The compass seems to work well enough, although it must be carefully calibrated away from any interfering signals or metallic objects. The tide clock is OK but you need to update it weekly to account for small changes in the moon cycle - not a problem, and it came in handy on boat trips in tidal zones.

Cons:
The thermometer just doesn't work well. I can live with it reading a few degrees high when its on my wrist, but even after sitting overnight on my bureau it registers a good 10 degrees hotter than actual. I can buy a 5 dollar thermometer that does a better job than this! At night, and sometimes during the day, the extra "hands" can make it hard to tell the time at a glance. You have to study the watch a bit to make sure you are not looking at the compass/tide/temp indicator. These are really minor quibbles, but buyer beware. But the one thing that really bothered me was the fact that the small rod that holds the watch to the band has worked loose after only a couple of weeks, and it looks like a new part will be required. It's disappointing to find such a fundamental bit of hardware on a not-inexpensive watch failing so soon.

So in the end, I like it. I think it's good looking, and it certainly keeps time well. The extra features are fun and occasionally useful. I'd buy another one.

5 out of 5 stars Performs Exactly As Claimed   July 26, 2008
Instructions are easily followed. Backlight is effective. Watch is immensely practical. A good purchase.
