Connects the iPod to my car stereo, lacks usability November 4, 2008 The reason i bought this product was because i was hoping to make driving safer. It's good to have the controls for the iPod on the stereo instead of looking for the iPod and then looking for a particular song.
This product just made my driving more dangerous. The menu system on this is slow, it does not remember where you are browsing so everytime you have to start browsing right from the beginning, and this would be single biggest issue with this product. If it just remembered where i am in the menu.
Don't get this if you think it will make your life easier while driving.
Works great October 29, 2008 I've installed the KSPD100 iPod adapter to the KWADV790 unit. Really easy to install. There's only one way to connect to the KWADV790. Impossible to mess up. I can control my iPod from the KWADV790 while driving. Best part, it charge the iPod while I'm jamming to my tunes.
Almost perfect October 25, 2008 I have been using this product for about a month. It works as expected. I believe it is a very good value. I use it on an older 20gig IPOD. Once you figure out how it works with your radio you are good to go. It works similar to the IPOD menu system. Just drill down to album you want to hear. Only drawback is that it is a bit slow. You need to be patient when scrolling or drilling down. It does not perform like the track wheel. I suggest organizing your IPOD so you have less files to go thru. For example, lets say you have one U2 album, and a couple of songs from two other albums, I would just add the extra songs to the full album. That way you have less albums to scroll thru. I would buy this product again.
Great item for iPod & JVC! Works as described! Not for iPhone October 20, 2008 I bought this item to use with an existing JVC HD CD-Receiver. Installation in a Mazda 626 was easy, taking about 15 minutes. I ran the iPod connector cable to the glove box and keep and iPod Classic connected all the time. It is out of view. The JVC unit controls the iPod as described by JVC, that is to say funky menu, and not the intuitive Apple type interface. But the unit uses the current iPod setting when it is re-connected, so selecting a playlist in advance allows me to not really ever use the JVC interface. It is easy to play next or previous song; easy to skip ahead or back within an mp3, easy to make the display show artist or song id3 tag info. The sound quality is better than the mp3 CD's, but I am really just very pleased and they are probably identical. I live in a HD Radio friendly zone, and I enjoy that, but having my iPod library doing its thing makes me want to be stuck in traffic! I connected my iPhone, and no surprise, it does not charge the iPhone and does not play the music. Do not buy this model thinking the iPhone will work with the KS-PD100. I expect the same is true for an Apple Touch. My iPod 160GB Classic works perfectly. It will help keep me alive by displaying the Now Playing data instead of trying to use the iPod while driving!!!
So Far So Good October 14, 2008 I'm really liking this product. I have a KD G340 JVC Stero and bought iPOD adapter after I purchased the stereo. I had it installed and now I control the iPOD from the receiver. Very easy to use and it displays my iPOD data on the stereo screen. It even charges my iPOD battery. I would highly recommend this product.
