"Railway Modelling: The Realistic Way" by Iain Rice is a beautifully illustrated, 352-page, 'reader friendly' guide to the complexities, sophistication, and excitement of every aspect of modeling railroading and ranges from all manner of rolling stock; track layouts, the technical aspects of wiring and signaling; scales and standards, and so much more. Of special interest is the chapter devoted to 'Motive Power'.
